Entry Requirements for Sept 2025: 

To study with us you will need to achieve six or more GCSEs at grade 5+ including...

  • 5+ in maths, and... 
  • 5+ in one of English language or English literature, and...
  • 4+ in the other of English language or English literature

Plus the following subject-specific criteria for the Sir Isaac subjects you choose to study:

Chemistry

Higher-tier GCSE chemistry grade 5

or higher tier combined (trilogy) science grades 5,5

Computer science

GCSE 6+ mathematics

Core mathematics

No subject-specific requirements, beyond general entry requirements

Further Maths

GCSE 8+ mathematics

Must also choose to study A-level maths.

Physics

Higher-tier GCSE physics level 5 or higher tier combined (trilogy) science grades 5,5.

GCSE 6+ mathematics

Must also choose to study A-level maths.

Any students keen to study physics without maths should contact our Director of Science, Mr Watling, in the first instance.

Psychology

GCSE 5+ in Biology (or combined science)
GCSE 6+ in any of English literature, English language, history, geography religious studies, philosophy, psychology or sociology

Environmental Science

Higher-tier GCSE biology grade 5 and chemistry grade 5

or higher-tier combined (trilogy) science grades 5,5

Music

Grade 5+ on musical instrument and Grade 5 theory. Grade 5+ in GCSE music if taken.

Music Technology

No subject-specific requirements, beyond general entry requirements

Drama

Preferably GCSE 5+ in Drama, GCSE 5+ in English Lit. Experience in acting.

Classics

GCSE 5+ in a humanity (history, geography, religious studies, philosophy, psychology, sociology)

As a guide students are expected to achieve:

Four GCSEs at grade 5+
GCSE 4+ in either of English literature or English language
GCSE 4+ in biology, chemistry and physics, or combined science
