Maths Week 2024
Following on from a very successful Maths Week England 2023, Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form Outreach hosted their third year of activities in collaboration with Maths Week England 2024, taking place from Monday 11th to Friday 15th November.
This year we moved away from our day with the dinosaurs and took on a new theme – under the sea – with a variety of events that provided enriching mathematical opportunities designed for Key Stage 2 and 3 students across Norfolk.
Please continue reading to find out more about the exciting events that took place. You can read more about the success of our 2022 and 2023 programmes here:
Ocean Odyssey
PRIMARY ONLY
During the programme, we hosted an interactive maths activity carousel based around the theme of under the sea, supported by our excellent teaching team, alongside staff and students from the University of East Anglia. We invited schools to join us for one of the following two sessions:
- Friday 15th November 2024
- Friday 22nd November 2024
Schools were invited to bring up to 6 students from Year 4, with 2 additional reserves. The event will took place at the Inspiration Trust Teaching School Hub (NR1 2RN).
Enrichment Lessons
Our expert teachers visited schools in Norfolk to deliver an under the sea themed lesson on enriching maths to KS2 students. These lessons were delivered to schools during maths lessons or as after-school clubs, and were tailored to match the age range and ability of the students.
Make a Splash Competition
Schools were invited to design and create their own under the sea-themed origami display, with prizes being awarded to the best designs in the following categories:
-
Primary (KS2) – Best Class Prize
-
Secondary (KS3) – Best Class Prize
