Maths Week 2024

Following on from a very successful Maths Week England 2023, Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form Outreach are excited to announce their third year of activities in collaboration with Maths Week England 2024, taking place from Monday 11th to Friday 15th November. 

This year we move away from our day with the dinosaurs and take on a new theme – under the sea – with a variety of events that provide enriching mathematical opportunities designed for Key Stage 2 and 3 students across Norfolk.

Ocean Odyssey

PRIMARY ONLY

During the programme, we will be hosting an interactive maths activity carousel based around the theme of under the sea, supported by our excellent teaching team, alongside staff and students from the University of East Anglia. We are inviting schools to join us for one of the following two sessions: 

  • Friday 15th November 2024 (10:00-14:00 – arrival from 9:30) 
  • Friday 22nd November 2024 (10:00-14:00 – arrival from 9:30) 

Schools are invited to bring up to 6 students from Year 4, with 2 additional reserves. There are a limited number of spaces available for each session so please register early to avoid disappointment. The event will be taking place at the Inspiration Trust Teaching School Hub (NR1 2RN), where there will be free parking available. Registration closes Friday 18th October and places will be confirmed on Monday 21st October.

Enrichment Lessons

We have availability for our expert teachers to visit schools in Norfolk to deliver an under the sea themed lesson on enriching maths to KS2 students. These lessons can be delivered to schools during maths lessons or as after-school clubs, and we will tailor the lessons to match the age range and ability of the students.   

We only have a limited amount of availability to deliver lessons around Maths Week, so please register early to avoid disappointment. To register your interest in hosting one of these lessons, please complete the following registration form. Registration closes Friday 18th October and places will be confirmed on Monday 21st October. 

“Make a Splash” Competition

Schools are invited to design and create their own under the sea-themed origami display, with prizes being awarded to the best designs in the following categories: 

  1. Primary (KS2) – Best Class Prize 

  1. Primary (KS3) – Best Class Prize 

Schools can register a class of students for the competition and will receive a pack of materials to support the creation of their entry. Please note that we will not be accepting whole school or year group submissions this year, but you can enter more than one class per school. To participate, please complete the following registration form. Registration closes Friday 18th October.
