On Saturday 8th March, we welcomed 333 Year 11 students from 50 schools across the region for our annual ‘Discover Sir Isaac’ A-level subject taster day for applicants to our sixth form.

Ahead of the event, students selected sessions from the full range of A-level subjects offered at our sixth form. On the day, they took part in engaging practical sessions in physics, chemistry, and biology, as well as exploratory lessons in environmental science, maths, further maths, core maths, computer science, and psychology.

Each session was carefully designed to both support students’ current GCSE studies and extend their learning into A-level content, offering a valuable insight into the depth and direction of each subject. The day was inspiring, enjoyable, and a true reflection of the vibrant and ambitious learning environment at Sir Isaac.

Giving students the opportunity to come and visit us at this stage is essential as it gives students a feel for what life is like when studying A-levels, and the opportunity to practice coming in and figuring out their way around our school.

It was a pleasure to meet so many of our future students, and we are thrilled that feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We look forward to welcoming our applicants again at the joint Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form and Jane Austen College Sixth Form Familiarisation Day on Tuesday, 1st July.
